The Kick Drum
What makes a kick so cool? And so hard to get right?
It’s the pulse of the song. The heartbeat and the thing that makes your head bop. It can be distorted and ugly. Or clean and snappy. Or just something you feel in your chest.
In any case, it’s almost always the first thing I listen for, and the first thing I get right.
